From the Desk of the GM - January 7, 2010

"Inaugural Top Ten List"

Happy New Year from the Goldeyes family to yours! It seems like yesterday we were ushering in the new millennium and all the concerns that came with that, and now, ten years later a new decade begins. It’s hard to believe it will be the Goldeyes 17th season and 12th at Canwest Park.

In order to keep things fresh on this blog, I will be dropping in various top ten lists throughout the year. Below is the inaugural top ten list of 2010:

Here are the top ten things I would like to see in the sports world in “2K10”:

Drum roll please…

10. Back to back World Series titles for the Yankees
9. At least one round in the 70’s on the golf course for me this summer
8. RBC Cup Championship for the Portage Terriers
7. Memorial Cup Championship for the Brandon Wheat Kings
6. Grey Cup Championship for the Bombers
5. Calder Cup Championship for the Moose
4. A first place finish for Team Goldeyes (Rick Forney and I) in the Winnipeg Police Service half-marathon relay (Shameless plug time – pledges are now being accepted by clicking here – all proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society)
3. Olympic Gold Medals for the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Hockey Teams
2. Sold out opening night on May 20 when the Goldeyes host the Lake County Fielders

And the number 1 thing I would like to see happen in the sports world in 2010…

1. A Northern League Championship for the Goldeyes!!!

Watch for more blogs and more top tens as the year rolls along.

I will concur Mr. Goldeyes GM...back to back for our Yankees, soldout home opener...and most especially...for you, for the front office, for Rick, for Sam and for the great baseball fans in the city of Winnipeg...a northern league championship for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
