“Another fantastic Open House”
Saturday’s open house was another great day. This was our 16th annual open house and it may have been the best yet, at least from the weather standpoint. Over the years, we have had some very cold, rainy, snowy days for our open house. So, to wake up yesterday to clear skies and about 13 degrees (okay, it wasn’t 13 first thing in the morning, but it got there), it was a load off my mind. It was also a load off the minds of the other 20 or so Goldeyes staff members who make an event like yesterday happen.
Some staff have been through this day many times before, whereas there are some it was their first time. It’s a bit of an eye-opener for those who have never experienced the open house. The day is full of “controlled chaos” with things that we hadn’t planned for popping up every once in a while. You would think after 15 years, we would have seen it all but every year, something comes up that we weren’t expecting.
The fan turnout was spectacular, the weather was as good as we could have hoped for, individual ticket sales went well and the 2009 Goldeyes squad looked great practicing on the field.
One final note… A huge thank you to all those who sponsored me for yesterday’s Winnipeg Police Service half marathon. With your help, I was able to raise more than $1,300 for the Canadian Cancer Society. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Until next time…
